“May the odds be ever in your favour”
Inviting all Scout Groups across Somerset for a brand-new experience for the Scout Section, to be part of a Hunger Games Camp running at Huish Woods Camp Site from Friday 11th October – Sunday 13th October 2019. The event is designed for Scouts of all ages to participate.
Inspired by the format of the Hunger Games in the first and second film, Scout Groups that register for the weekend, should arrive at Huish Woods on Friday evening. We will ask that the total number of Scouts attending the camp are split into smaller groups of 4-7 Scouts (Patrols). Groups will need to provide catering and sleeping arrangements throughout the weekend and will be allocated a campsite prior to arrival.
Saturday is all about training, practicing activities located around the woods. We ask that each Scout Group attending, supports the event by running a pre designed base. The instructions and materials will be supplied, and have been designed for all ages and skill sets. Some will include fire lighting, angel throwing, purifying water, survival foods, navigating the woods blind and of course archery. Scouts will be earning points throughout the weekend which will be recorded individually.
On Saturday evening, tributes (Scouts) prepare to enter the arena and the games begin. Grabbing a bag from the ‘Cornucopia’ filled with all the essentials; a pencil, notepad, chocolate bar and a bottle of water. The game will continue through to 2am Sunday morning. Designated leaders will be tracking the Scouts down through the game to tag them out. If caught, Scouts will return to the capitol, before heading off to bed on their own group campsite.
Sunday will bring presentation and awards – Before departing from 12:30pm.
The cost will be £20.00 for each Scout taking part, and £5 per young leader/explorer. This is to be paid at the same time as sending in the Group Booking & Health Forms. Closing Date for the Camp is 31st August 2019.
Patrols should be supported by Group Leaders for catering over the course of the weekend. Sites will be allocated in the main campsite area and on the Beacon field.
Please can all bookings be made as soon as possible – more information will be sent out in due course.
Patrols must have a minimum of 4 Scouts and a maximum of 7 Scouts aged between 10 and 14.5 years old. As we are limited to 45 Patrols – please can leaders maximise the size of your Patrols. These are to be listed on the group booking form.
